Full Squirrel Moon

Tonight is the full moon called the Squirrel Moon, because now the squirrels are busily gathering nuts for the winter. This moon is also called Atchalankuaik, the "start getting sagittair roots" moon, by the Kalapuya of our area (sagittair is a potato like tuber).

We are now at the peak of the strong-energy yang phase of the waxing moon, and will soon begin the quiet-energy yin time of the waning moon.

Agenda:
1. Read "How to Manifest"
2. Take a vision walk
3. Celebrate abundance
4. Autumn blessings walk

1. Read "How to Manifest":
I'm reading a book called "How to Manifest", by Laura Chung; it's a 40 day program to "Make Your Dreams a Reality". I have one big dream that I'm making slow progress on, and this book (no matter that I'm cynical) has successfully kicked me into action!

I've finally reached the last part of the book (Week 5), which is called Your New State of Being.

Day 30 - Intuition: "Our intuition speaks to us through flashes of insight, moments of déja vu, goose bumps, a fluttering heart, a tight feeling in the stomach." She explains that we need to practice using our intuition, and learn how to trust it so we don't override it with our logical mind. Practice entails sitting in silence to listen for the whisper of the inner voice (Quakers have this covered!) Intuition will tell you when to act and when to rest, and also where your energy is flowing or stagnant.

She goes on to describe different kinds of intuition. My gift is claircognizance, the gift of knowing - I just know. I don't know how I know but I just do.

2. Take a vision walk:
My theme this month has been Abundance and Gratitude: Abundance is like a gentle wind of blessings blowing with determination into
your life. The wind is all the fortunate influences that shape your life - friends, family, society, and also outside forces and situations. Abundance blows steadily, and over time will influence and shape youYou need to maintain integrity and awareness to avoid being swayed or blown in the wrong direction, but you will achieve the greatest success by yielding to prospects brought on the wind.

I've been finding ways to invite abundance into my life, and into the world, by cultivating an abundance consciousness; that is, I acknowledge the blessings I have already, finding ways to express my gratitude, getting clear about what blessings I want to see for the world, and challenging myself to help to create them, because if I can truly believe that there’s enough for everybody, I will find ways to make it so.

Today I will settle into silence and access my intuitive mind - my connection to the Creator and the Inner Guide - by putting myself into a relaxed, trance-like state, and seeking a leading of the spirit. I call on the Spirit of Light to guide me, bring me clarity and open my eyes.
What abundance do I want for myself and for the world?
How can I expand my vision of what's possible? What steps can I take towards abundance?
How do I express my gratitude to people, the earth, and to God?
What has filled me with Light?

3. Celebrate abundance:
I will celebrate abundance in three ways:
1. Practice a walking meditation in our neighborhood, aimed at remembering my blessings and the abundance of my life.
2. Plant garlic, spring bulbs, and clover.
3. Celebrate with friends tomorrow night, at an online gathering, sharing our joys and struggles, and howling together at the moon!

4. Blessings Walk:
I haven't been very disciplined with walking lately, but I'm going to walk every day this week, even if it's only around my yard. Since I'm often in charge of a young walker, I will keep my meditation short and to the point:

1. Gratitude: Begin my walk, and concentrate on everything I’m grateful for. Say, “I’m grateful for the fresh morning air; that I’m healthy, and my family is healthy; for my friends….”

2. Wishes: Turn a corner, expand my awareness, and ask "What gifts do I want today, for myself and for others?"

3. Intentions: Turn another corner, and create a clear picture of
steps I intend to take today, towards abundance.

4. Prayer: Turn the last corner, and speak this prayer out loud as I’m moving: “I am a limitless being, accepting from a limitless source, in an infinite way. I am incredibly blessed, and deeply grateful.”
