Friday is my day for proaction: Proaction is taking initiative to anticipate and shape future events rather than simply reacting to circumstances as they happen. Some people think Covey should've just used the word ACT, but proaction requires a thought: "I could do this or I could do that; I choose to do this."
And I'm still in third quarter yang moon energy time for reciprocity, generosity, collaboration and connection; a final time of action before the next moon cycle.
Agenda:
1. Summer action plan:
On Fridays I often journal a bit about the future, and my dreams and goals: What GREAT things do I want to accomplish? How will I serve people? How will I use my talents? How will I stretch myself? How can I become an “island of excellence”? What is essential?Then I try to define achievable, meaningful goals and prioritize the goals and tasks with the greatest long-term impact. I'm just thinking about the summer right now. My end plan is to:
- Maintain my connections with my two or three Earthcare groups, and encourage them to the best of my ability without committing too much time or energy; in other words, I need to preserve my energy and my connections this summer.
- Explore creative pathways to increasing my Nature-Culture readership.
- Research and write about climate change as it connects to Nature-Culture.
- Take action against climate change with the Eugene Clean Energy Fund coalition.
2. Evaluation Journal:
Today I get to reflect back on the first 3/4 of the Lotus Moon lunar cycle that I'm passing through. My theme has been Depth.
What lessons have I learned in the last weeks? What has been completed and accomplished? What is unfinished? What has shifted? and what can I set aside?
I sit with these queries and write in my journal in a reflective way - my insights, emotions, and the clarity I’ve gained during the last lunar month and how I’ve grown. I mThis reflection will prepare me for moving forward with grace and purpose.
ake a list of things that need attention.
Journal: Good work so far with my anger journal- I'm feeling a shift. Perhaps next month's theme could be transformative power? Need to move on soon to Late Summer writing themes (Water?) Wrap up summer camps with a party? Tentatively loving my move into watercolor illustration. Need to double down on house painting and projects, and need MORE TIME for committee work.
3. Proaction and reciprocity plans:
Once I have clarity and a framework, then I try to define achievable, meaningful goals and prioritize the goals and tasks with the greatest long-term impact.
My plan for Earthcare Service in the next week:
- Sun: Write a News with local events and info about ECEF; and especially look in to the organizations that IFEK supports so I can update that calendar too.
- M: Check in with Liz about worship sharing and queries;
- T: Make butterflies to hang
- W: Update IFEK calendar; Advertise the ECEF fundraiser
- Th: Registration for our EC retreat;
- F: Push our outdoor worship...
4. Preparedness:
One of the habits I'm trying to build is to be prepared. What are the bits I can plan into my days to be prepared for Earthcare Proaction?
- Read my emails and label them so I can find earthcare news when I'm ready.
- Organize my meeting notes and check them off.
- Do we need an EC committee shared calendar?
