New Harvest Moon

My late summer garden: September’s color is golden-yellow for the ripe grain,
success, and balance at the center.
Tonight is the new moon. The Chinese call the eighth new moon the Harvest Moon, because it's harvest time!

On my road towards enlightenment I harvest little pieces of wisdom each day, as well as friendship and all the other fruits of my labors. Today I will take stock of my bounty.

Agenda for today:
1- Journal queries
2- New moon harvest meditation
3- Set intentions
4- Dry herbs

1- Journal queries:
Make a list of the fruit of all my labors in the last 8 months - projects I nurtured into being, goals I met, challenges I surmounted, and the love and friendship I nurtured.

What were the hardest won harvests of the year?
What difficult situations have I turned into a harvest of wisdom?
What work needs doing to bring in the final harvests?

2- New moon harvest meditation:

  • Light a small white candle.
  • Center and reflect on my harvest list. Think with gratitude on what I have harvested this year.
  • Feel myself fill with thankfulness for all I have now in my life.
  • Repeat this every morning until the candle is burned down.

3- Set intentions:
The new moon is my monthly time for “seeding” intentions. I write down what I hope to focus on in the next 30 days or so, and then give my ideas a period of gestation, like seeds in the soil, before I take action. Having this regular time each month to focus my goals has helped to give me clarity of purpose.

List my intentions for the next four weeks-
1- Focus on equanimity.
2- Plan and host a Peace Day event.
3- Update my Etsy site.

4- Harvest and dry herbs:
I have a bountiful harvest of herbs this summer, and this week I will dry them!
