Kakizome Day

This is Kakizome Day; kakizome means "first writing". Today people all over Japan will take time to use a brush and sumi ink to write out a favorite quote or phrase - the first calligraphy of the new year. Kakizome is a way to express your positive wishes for the New Year

Today is also the ninth day of Christmas, and we will be on a train soon to go home.

Getting Organized for Action

We had a great Earthcare Action Meeting on Sunday, and generated ton of ideas. As the leader, my next steps are to make a plan, discern and do my parts, and find volunteers for the other bits.

A Little Spring Break Retreat

Spring break is here and we have a couple of days off from grandchildcare, as the family is going camping. Today I will revel in a spring day to putter around the house with nothing scheduled (while I also miss the kids!)

Today I am finding ways to celebrate spring - making art, spending time in the garden, buying new (for me) spring clothes and walking shoes, experimenting with homemade yogurt, and making an upgraded sand pit for the kids.

4th Day of Christmas

This is the fourth day of the twelve-day festal tide - a sacred, festive season. My retreat today will again embrace the disposition of a pre-schooler ... a busy kind of retreat, with lots of short projects and (hopefully) a long nap!

Fifth Day of Christmas

This is the fifth day of Christmas and the fourth day of Kwanzaa. My retreat today will embrace the disposition of a toddler... a busy kind of retreat, with lots of short projects and (hopefully) a long nap!

This is the fourth day of Christmas and the third day of Kwanzaa. I will continue my 12 Days of Christmas mini-retreat, focusing on my priorities and what I'm called to do (or not do) next in my life.
