Sabbath Abundance

Today is Sunday, which I celebrate as my Sabbath, meaning that I keep it simple, slow-paced, and peaceful.

It’s not possible for me to do NO work on the Sabbath, but I schedule very little work, and my work has a different focus and flavor. I take time out from busy-ness so I can practice deepening my inner life-- how I feel, how I behave, and how I express myself.

My theme this month is abundance, and I've decided to visualize abundance all day long - a picture in my heart of abundant peace in the world, equality, order, respect - all the best things growing to enfold us all.

Sabbath Plan:
1. All day Abundance meditation
2. Journal queries
3. Creativity practice

1. All day Abundance meditation:
I begin my celebration of the Sabbath right away when I awaken -- I pause before rolling out of bed to remember God, and acknowledge that I have God within. I hold that remembering through the day, lightly, like a dove resting on my shoulder.

To attract abundance to the world, I need an abundance consciousness: That is, I need to be aware of the abundance already in my life, connect with it, feel grateful for it, and be open to receive more of it.

Today I pray for abundant peace and justice in our nation.

2. Journal queries:

I've been keeping an Abundance Journal this month, answering these queries every morning:
What do I want for myself and for others?
What steps can I take today towards abundance?

From my journal: Today I want to be a good listener; I open to listening, and wish for everyone to feel heard. One thing I can do today to pave the way for abundance is to plant favas in my garden beds, as a winter cover crop.

3. Creativity Practice:

Creativity goes along with abundance. I've been working on creative projects each day this month - stenciled baby pants, a crocheted hat, a painting, a drawing, and loaves of oat bread.
