Easter Week

This whole week is called Easter week or Holy Week,
and I enjoy celebrating it with my family.

Monday is my day to reset for the week and get my ducks in a row - make some plans for health and home, and get ready for a week of Easter activities with my grandsons.

Agenda this week:
1. Read "The Spirited Walker"
2. Clearing and Home projects
3. Grandson fun
4. Pocket calendar plan

1. Read "The Spirited Walker":
I'm reading this little book by Carolyn Scott Kortge (1998), with the subtitle, Fitness walking for clarity, balance, and spiritual connection. She equates walking to a regular meditation or mindfulness practice. " ... walking has many parallels to life. Walkers move forward, take steps, go toward something. ...the action changes your perspective. It offers a fresh point of view."

I'm in Chapter 5, Breathwork for Walkers, which also has a whole section on stretching after exercise. "The most thorough stretching should be done at the conclusion  of an aerobic workout when muscles are warm." Something I can work in to my walking script is a 5 minute stretching routine at the end: Standing side stretch, forward bend, calf stretch, and especially a thigh stretch, resting my foot behind me on a chair.

2. Clearing and Home projects:
In April I plan to do basic housework with integrity, keeping the house clean, and give greater attention to clearing things out of the house.

This week our kitchen needs a little organization. I would love to have shelves that are less tightly packed. My plan is to completely empty one or two drawers or a cabinet each day, and put back only what we need. Also, find new, creative ways to store my stuff so it looks tidy and is easy to put away. This week I plan to:
  • Clear and tidy the laundry room shelves.
  • Clear and clean my spice shelf and buy some fresh herbs.
I'm also doing the work to finish our home projects, because creating our home sanctuary is a priority, and finishing projects (one by one) satisfies my need for completion, integrity, and order.

My goals this week:
  1. Paint posts
  2. Call an electrician about grounded outlet
  3. Plan steppers and plantings!
  4. Reclaim fence wood
  5. Make sand pit
  6. Seal fence
  7. Sew canvas roof
  8. Dig up drain field
3. Grandson fun:
Monday is also my day to prepare for fun kid activities throughout the week. I'm going to prepare some bird and nest projects, and Easter projects, plus edit and add to our choice cards:

  • Dye eggs
  • Set up the egg tree and bunnies
  • Birds and nests
  • Hunt for litter outside
  • Plant sunflowers
  • Feed squirrels
  • Painting
  • AC car
  • Ride bicycles
  • Playground
4. Pocket calendar plan:
To celebrate the week with the grandsons, we are using our pocket calendar - a hanging with 7 large embroidered pockets that my mom made for us when our children were young.

Tuesday = bunnies
Wednesday = tins with candy
Thursday = small lego kits
Friday = egg dye kit
