Wednesday is my day to re-group and re-define my week. First I make a plan for getting over the bump of the mid-week, then I re-envision my emotional tone and perspective.
And today we are going to the swimming pool!
Agenda today:
1. My bump plan
2. Read "Achievement Habit"
3. Writing themes and passion plan
1. My bump plan:
Ideas:
- Eat a high-protein breakfast for a sharper focus: Poached eggs and toast
- Mid-week priority catch up: This week - Dusting, sweeping
- Clear some clutter to free mental space: Mending, sewing basket
- Easy evening meal or dinner out: Burgers.
2. Read "The Achievement Habit":
Chapter 2 is Reasons are Bullshit. The point is to stop making excuses, take responsibility for your behaviors, and change your attitude. Even when I have a really good reason for a behavior, I should remember that I probably have many other reasons too. "In assigning relative importance to our reasons, we introduce a lie into our analysis - we add a weighting factor to the reasons that most support our version of the story or our self image."The author suggests that we stick to the simplest practice - If you like what is happening, keep doing what you are doing and hope keeps working well. If you do not like what happens, do it differently next time. "Reasons get in the way of this simple pragmatic approach. ... Actions speak louder than reasons. Don't give reasons unless you have to."
This chapter is mostly talking about time - making the time for my priorities, and letting go of excuses.
3. Writing themes and passion flow plan:
The next few days are the best block of time I have for healthy obsession for my writing project. Last week I made a plan for the summer, and I'm already behind, but that's okay - I want to get it right!
