Wednesday Clarity

Wednesday is my day to re-group and re-define my week. First I make a plan for getting over the bump of the mid-week, then I re-envision my emotional tone and perspective.

Agenda today:
1. My bump plan
2. Read "The Achievement Habit"
3. Writing themes and passion plan
4. Beingness routines

1. My bump plan:
Ideas:
  • Eat a high-protein breakfast for a sharper focus: Egg and toast
  • Mid-week priority catch up: This week - House painting
  • Clear some clutter to free mental spacePapers in crate
  • Easy evening meal or dinner outTurkey sandwiches and coleslaw.
2. Read "The Achievement Habit":
I'm reading from this book by Bernard Roth (2015), subtitled "Stop Wishing, Start Doing, and Take Command of Your Life"This is a book about "design thinking", applied to achieving goals in your life.

Chapter 3 is Getting Unstuck, about repeatedly hitting an obstacle. The first step is to ask the right question - to be really honest about the payoff and the real issues involved. Last week I used this to explore my brick wall with finishing projects.

This week I am asking, "Why can't I clear out the extra stuff in my home?". try looking at that from lots of angles:

Ask, "What would it do for me to solve this problem?": I would feel calmer and happier, like a burden was lifted; I would be able to find the things I need; I would be more open to having people over; we would have room to use our spaces.

Changing those answers into questions gets me to "Why am I holding on to so much stuff - how can I make letting go super easy?" That's a bit of an aha, because it seems so hard to even face one box of miscellaneous junk.

The next step is to reframe the problem; try looking at it from different angles and asking different questions. In this case, my problem seems pretty straight forward: How can I make sorting fun again?

3. Writing themes and passion flow plan:
The next few days are the best block of time I have for healthy obsession for my writing project. Last week I made a plan for the summer, and I'm already behind, but that's okay - I want to get it right!

Today I will set themes and topics for writing and research:
  • Th: Intro to climate change - how wildlife suffers (awareness)
  • F: Intro to climate change
  • S: Edits and post.
  • Sun: My carbon footprint - being humble (natural living)
  • M: My carbon footprint
  • T: Edits and post.
  • W: Climate change activism 101 (reciprocity)
Also some garden, advocacy, and community tasks to support that Nature-Culture flow through the next week:
  • Buy a cover crop mix to plant.
  • Plan my climate change goals
  • Plan next EC meeting and touch in with everyone.
4. Beingness routines:
I'm experimenting with adding scripts for routines to my new phone app, Neurolist. So far, I really like the hygiene script, and some of the cleaning scripts. Let's see how it does for Beingness!
