Boot Camp Bump Day

Wednesday is my day to re-group
and re-define my week. First I make a plan for getting over the bump of the mid-week, then I re-envision my emotional tone and perspective.

I’m also taking part in a resilience Boot Camp this week and today my goal is to define a narrative for what I need from my community.

Agenda today:
1. My bump plan
2. Read "Perspective"
3. New narrative for community
4. Writing themes and passion flow plan

1. My bump plan:
Ideas:
  • Eat a high-protein breakfast for a sharper focus: quiche
  • Mid-week priority catch up: This week - Make a stepping stone.
  • Clear some clutter to free mental spaceStash away winter coats and gloves + toy box
  • Easy evening meal or dinner out.
2.  Read "Perspective":
I'm reading this book by Meridith Elliot Powell, subtitled Reignite, Reinvent, Reframe (2025). This is the work I am dedicating myself to this year.

I'm on Chapter six, Language of Leadership: Words that shape culture. Key take aways: "Language creates culture. Every word you use sets a tone, reinforces a belief, and shapes behavior. ... Intentional language builds alignment. A shared vocabulary is the foundation of strong teams."

This is why being a writer is so important! My intention is to give people a new model for how to view their relationship in the world of nature - a new paradigm.

Practice: Launch a "language-shift" project; a transformation how we speak and listen to each other. Reframe the fear and doom to, "What does success look like?" and "What would need to be true to make this work?". Brainstorm my message and the inclusive language I can use, because the culture I want to build can be spoken into being, one message at a time.

Create a nature-culture glossary with the terms, mantra, and language choices that define the shift I see happening.

3. New narrative for community:
I feel two needs for my community: Communication and support (mostly car support).
  • I really want to share what's going on in our family so that others can help me to hold space for health and harmony.
  • I need some support to ease transportation demands: Right now it's mostly errand-running, but later medical visits and groceries too.
My new narrative this week is "My community helps me hold space for health and harmony."

At the same time, I know this isn't all about me, and W is such a private person. How do I balance his need for privacy with my need for communication?

4. Writing themes and passion flow plan:
The next few days are the best block of time I have for healthy obsession for my writing project. Today I will set themes and topics for writing, research, and also some garden, advocacy, and community tasks to support that Nature-Culture flow through the next week.

My Nature-Culture theme this month is early spring renewal and awareness.
  • Th: N-C blog - Sanctuary #2 (Native bees)
  • F: Sanctuary: Care for native bees
  • Sat: Sanctuary: Caterpillar life cycle and sanctuary
  • Sun: Awareness: Rethink your word use
  • Mon: N-C blog - Natural living #1 the challenge
  • T: Edits and updates
  • W: N-C blog - Natural living #2 plastic habit
5. Daily boot camp resilience list:
I've been adding a practice each day -
  1. Stand-Strong work out.
  2. Clear off one shelf space, basket, or toy box each day.
  3. De-stress journal.
  4. Build community a bit each day.
