Hump Day

Wednesday is my day to re-group
and re-define my week. First I make a plan for getting over the bump of the mid-week, then I re-envision my emotional tone and perspective.

Today I also need to do what I can to prepare for the unknown of a hospital stay.

Agenda today:
1. My bump plan
2. Read "Revolutionary Witchcraft"
3. Prepare for the unknown

1. My bump plan:
Ideas:
  • Eat a high-protein breakfast for a sharper focus: eggs
  • Mid-week priority catch up: This week - Housekeeping.
  • Clear some clutter to free mental spaceWhole house tidy.
  • Easy evening meal or dinner outSandwiches.
2. Read "Revolutionary Witchcraft":
I'm reading this sweet little book by Sarah Lyons (2019) that I got from my daughter for Christmas. The subtitle is A Guide to Magical Activism.

Chapter 4 is The Pathways of Power, about ways to map the currents of power and direct it in the material plane. It covers allies, enemies, resources, and targets.

I've skipped over a lot because my head is not in the right place for this kind of magic right now. But the next part is making sigils:
  1. Think about how I think about the thing I want: Switch to a positive mindset, with a positive outcome as the focus.
  2. List out the essential desire, what we want and what the challenges are.
  3. Write a simple statement of intent: We are growing healthier day by day.
  4. Take out the repeating letters and all vowels (or keep some vowels if I feel like it): WR GN HLT DYB.
  5. Use these to draw a symbol.
3. Prepare for the unknown:
Tomorrow's visit to the hospital isn't entirely an unknown. We've been in this script before, but this will have new characters, a new setting, and new story line. I've got a few ideas about how to prepare:
  • Read up on the procedure.
  • Finish as many tasks as possible before leaving - take only simple work with me.
  • Pack interesting distractions that are super simple (cross-stitch, a fantasy novel, sigil-making).
  • Plan a familiar schedule to normalize the day.
  • Bring my own snacks.
