Sunday is my day to be quiet (at least for a while), with the spirit, in quiet contemplation and prayer, and in community with nature and other bipeds.
This Sabbath we might bring our beloved husband/father/grandpa home from the hospital and settle into a semblance of normal.
Agenda:
1. Read "12 Tiny Things"
2. Flow plans
3. Awareness of
1. Read "12 Tiny Things":
I'm reading this small book by Heidi Barr and Ellie Roscher, subtitled, "Simple Ways to Live a More Intentional Life". It's a book of practices how to tend your roots and "remember who you are".
"There may be days, seasons, and stages where external circumstances make intentional living challenging ... Tiny things are available to us all. One tiny thing at a time, we can find ourselves thriving and more in love with our lives."
Section One is Space, about intentional time, and creating room to breathe.
The Tiny Thing is to Say No to something - could be an activity, a possession, or a thought in my head. Notice the space this creates, and dwell in its power, potential and peace for a bit.
Looking at my list of "to do's" this week - I can easily reduce these! But it doesn't really create room in my days because I've got my days so tightly scheduled. The question is, is my tight schedule holding space for the self-care and order I need? I think the answer is yes.
2. Flow plans:
Some days I have feelings of panic because I can't DO enough to fix the world. I was reminded this week that productivity is not the cornerstone of success, ant that in our capitalist culture rest and under-achievement is an act of resistance. I knew that as a young mother; I can reclaim it now as a Grandma.
SLOW DOWN and GO WITH the FLOW.
I feel “in the flow” when I stay awake in the moment, and become fully engaged in whatever I am doing. I am ready to embrace whatever develops, because I know everything I experience has value. My anxiety and anger drop away, and my joy and peace increase.
And amazingly, when I remember to be in the moment and go with the flow, I get more done.
My plan this week is to Live with Immediacy– Slow down and just BE; allow the day to unfold at a natural pace. Listen to my intuition and my gut, as well as messages from the Universe.
3. Awareness of water:
Sundays I often try to plan an awareness practice for the week, and this week it is keeping tabs on watering. By mid-spring we I have lots of new plants in the ground, and I tend to be a lazy water-er. This week I will give daily attention and time to keeping the soil moist.
4. Harvesting practice:
Harvesting is an Ongo technique
1. Reflect on an experience and look at journal entries.
2. Write about a thing that was enriching, what I said or did and the Needs it touched. Take time to savor and celebrate, and write any insights.
3. Write about a thing that created loss, what I said or did and the Needs that went unmet. Take time to be in mourning, and write any insights.
4. Write about any actions or requests for myself that come up out of these celebrations and mournings.
