Saturday Retreat

Saturday is my day for proaction: Proaction is taking initiative to anticipate and shape future events rather than simply reacting to circumstances as they happen. Some people think Covey should've just used the word ACT, but proaction requires a thought: "I could do this or I could do that; I choose to do this."
We are in the Waxing Gibbous moon phase, when I can settle again into the yin of Beingness. I will contemplate the big picture of my life as I practice mindfulness and self-care. Now is a time to reconsider my intentions and make adjustments. It's a time to review and refine, a time to practice Being, and trust in the ebb and flow of the universe.

Agenda Today:
1. Refine my intentions
2. Weekly "First Things First"
3. Proaction and reciprocity plans

1. Refine my intentions:
In the Waxing Gibbous moon phase, I pause to reconsider my intentions, my patterns and approaches, and make adjustments. Today I'm working on these two older intentions that I've carried over from last month:

  1. Give daily attention to the fall garden: Water, harvest, preserve, collect seeds, plant cover crops, mulch, and bedding down for winter: I'm doing pretty good with this.
  2. Clear our home of excess, find clarity on what is most important to keep, and create a well-ordered and peaceful sanctuary for those I love: I've got a good rotation and great energy for this - little by little.

2. Weekly "First Things First":
Saturday is a great day to journal about my dreams and goals for my life roles: What GREAT things do I want to accomplish? How will I serve people? How will I use my talents? How will I stretch myself? How can I become an “island of excellence”? What is essential?

Journal: Big themes for next week = Clerking, weight loss, family and friends, Halloween, and an Honorable Harvest. I've got Business Meeting and two earth group meetings, a Moon Zoom, a visit from an old friend and my brother, and a whole lot of halloween fun. My biggest projects are bathroom door project, sewing a dove, a wood-burned cutting board, and painting mantra signs. I will stretch myself to be an awake clerk and Earth Grandmother, and to flow with the season and my energy level.

2. Proaction and reciprocity plans:
Once a week I try to define achievable, meaningful goals in areas of Right Action, and prioritize the goals and tasks with the greatest long-term impact.

My plan for Earthcare Action in the next week:
  • Sunday: Send EC agenda + Haudenosaunee invitation + ECEF garden event
  • M: Write a News with local events and info about the ECEF signature effort; and especially look in to the organizations that IFEK supports so I can update that calendar too + info about ECEF
  • W: IFEK calendar work + ECEF call + IFEK Meeting
  • F: Write a News
My plans for clerking service in the next week:
  • Sat: Finalize business agenda; Contact Sara (work party, Thanksgiving?, Support??); Send notes for clerks + Send queries with the request: “Please consider these queries with your committee, in preparation, and plan to give one example. Some of us may at times feel isolated in our efforts, and this is our chance to shine a light of creative synergy on our ministry.”
  • Sun: Business Meeting
  • T: Meet with Kate and Ethen to edit minutes
  • F: Approve minutes
  • Sat: Print and sign minutes
