Wednesday is my day to re-group and re-define my week. First I make a plan for getting over the bump of the mid-week, then I re-envision my emotional tone and perspective.
Agenda today:
1. My bump plan
2. Read "The Achievement Habit"
3. Beingness routines
4. Writing themes and passion plan
1. My bump plan:
Ideas:
- Eat a high-protein breakfast for a sharper focus: Egg and toast
- Mid-week priority catch up: This week - Hearthkeeping
- Clear some clutter to free mental space: Studio table
- Easy evening meal or dinner out: Sandwiches and coleslaw.
2. Read "The Achievement Habit":
I'm reading from this book by Bernard Roth (2015), subtitled "Stop Wishing, Start Doing, and Take Command of Your Life". This is a book about "design thinking", applied to achieving goals in your life.

Chapter 5 is Doing is Everything, about the difference between trying and doing (which I've always thought is hair splitting). Yes - "Doing takes intention and attention," but so does trying, in my opinion. Some of the writer's reasoning stems from those who are always planning and never doing, which is sometimes a problem for me.
Another point is how we act under pressure, or in a moral dilemma. Also, continuing to act in the face of failure. "Notice how the habit of acting on your dreams builds from direct experience, and from overcoming the fear of failure."
The thing I am hesitating to DO is watercolor. He says, just do it.
3. Beingness routine:
To counteract all this talk of DOING, I'll continue to refine my Beingness routine.
Beingness is the fundamental quality of existence, simply being rather than doing or having. The trick is to be aware of my beingness, my essence, with a deep presence, which I will feel as peace, aliveness, or inherent worth.
My script for afternoon Beingness, beginning just after my nap:
- Gather a glass of water and a yellow pad and pen.
- Take 3 slow breaths, and notice the present moment.
- Drink water slowly.
- As I drink, pay attention to the physical feeling of being me.
- Say the mantra: Being Me: Mindful, loving, and present.
- Write down what I want to pay attention to.
- List 5-Things to do now to feel prepared and calm.
5. Writing themes and passion flow plan:
The next few days are the best block of time I have for healthy obsession for my writing project. Today I will set themes and topics for writing and research:
