Wednesday Becomes Tuesday

Tuesday is my day to look at my social and emotional self, make an effort to shift my perspectives around how I view and treat the people in my life, and get ready for a week of fun activities with my grandsons.

Agenda:
1. Read "How to Deal with Anger"
2. Discern my receptivity
3. Love meditation

1. Read "How to Deal with Anger":
I'm reading this book by Isabel Clarke (2016) that I got at Powells, because after my last explosion I decided I won't reach equanimity without managing my anger. Part 1 is Support, and Chapter 1 is Starting to think about ager.

Basically, I need to change my relationship to anger - stop it from taking over, and find ways to channel it so I don't freak out and throw things. I can use the energy generated by my anger to improve my situation (maybe right some wrongs, or improve my communication?) instead of becoming tense and frustrated, or embarrassing myself when it explodes.

Self-Assessment: Reasons for managing anger
  1. In order to feel calmer, even when provoked.
  2. To stop feeling embarrassed by my outbursts.
  3. To be able to communicate the reasons for my anger without loosing it.
2. Discern my receptivity:
Every month after the full moon, in the quiet-energy yin time of the waning moon, I practice a love meditation that progresses from receptivity, to gratitude, to generosity, but this month I'm enacting a preliminary review of receptivity - what is it I want to receive, and how can I best open to them?

Things I want to receive this month:
  • Equanimity habit - work with anger management book;
  • Clarity for summer priorities for big home projects - make time to consult with my project partner;
  • Camp preparedness - block out time each Thursday pm;
  • Involvement in the Eugene Energy Fund project - sign up for video calls.

3. Love Meditation:
Day 1: Practice a love meditation, and open to receive blessings - send a prayer to the universe asking to be showered with love, kindness, health, and happiness.

  1. 1 minute - Relax your body, and focus on the tender emotion of generous love. Allow a smile to settle on your face and in your heart.
  2. 1 minute - Visualize love as soft, tingly, warm, pink light, and see it move from your heart to every part of your body so that every cell is glowing and vibrating.
  3. 1 minute - Now see the pink light of love radiating to fill the whole room, then the whole city, and the whole planet earth.
  4. 1 minute - See that all people, plants, and animals feel warm and happy.
  5. 1 minute - Send an extra dose of love light to those people you want to have a better connection to.
